What’s included in your Banana Planting Combo Kit?
10 × 5 Litre Tall Banana Sucker Planter Bags
The ideal starting point for establishing young banana suckers before transplanting them into larger growing bags or the garden.
These Australian-made black plastic planter bags feature a tall, narrow design that provides useful depth for developing banana roots.
- Approximately 5 litre capacity
- Filled diameter approximately 150mm
- Filled height approximately 300mm
- UV-stabilised polyethylene
- Drainage holes to allow excess water to escape
- Supplied flat for easy storage
Perfect for potting up freshly separated banana suckers and allowing them to establish a healthy root system.
1 × POWER 50/50 Coir Growing Blend – 4.5kg Block
Give your banana roots a growing medium that balances moisture retention with good aeration.
Our POWER 50/50 Coir Growing Blend contains:
- 50% fine coconut coir pith
- 50% coconut husk chips
The fine coir helps retain moisture, while the larger husk chips help maintain air spaces around developing roots.
Each compressed 4.5kg block expands to approximately 60+ litres when hydrated.
Blend the expanded coir with a quality potting mix and other suitable ingredients to create a free-draining growing medium for your banana suckers.
Please note: Coir is a growing-medium ingredient, not a complete fertiliser.
1 × Seasol Trilogy 631 Plant & Soil Tonic – 1 Litre
Help support your newly planted banana suckers with this Australian-made liquid plant and soil tonic.
Seasol Trilogy 631 combines:
- 60% Seasol – liquid seaweed extract
- 30% PowerFish – liquid fish extract
- 10% Organic Humate – liquid humate extract
This combination helps support root development, soil biological activity and plant resilience.
Particularly useful when transplanting banana suckers and establishing young plants.
Always dilute and apply according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
5 × 140mm White Plastic Plant Labels
Keep track of your banana varieties and planting/fertilising dates!
These white plastic plant labels provide plenty of writing space for recording useful information.
- 25mm wide
- 100mm writing face length
- Approximately 135mm overall length
- Pointed stake for inserting into potting mix
Use them to identify banana varieties, record propagation dates or keep track of plants you’re growing for friends and family.
A suitable UV-resistant nursery marker or garden label pencil is recommended for longer-lasting writing.
1 × Neutrog Gyganic Banana Fertiliser – 500g
Bananas are hungry plants, and healthy growth requires a good supply of essential nutrients.
Neutrog Gyganic for Veggies, Fruit & Citrus is an Australian-made, organic-based pellet fertiliser suitable for banana plants.
Its nutrient formulation includes:
- Nitrogen for vigorous leaf growth
- Phosphorus for root development and plant energy processes
- Potassium to support healthy growth and fruit development
- Calcium, magnesium, sulphur and trace elements
- Organic carbon and humic compounds
Gyganic is particularly useful as your banana plants become established and begin growing vigorously.
Important: Follow the manufacturer’s application rates and avoid placing concentrated fertiliser directly against newly separated suckers or young roots.
1 × High Grip Anti-Odour Gardening Gloves
Keep your hands protected while working with potting mix, coir and banana plants.
These practical gardening gloves feature:
- Comfortable, flexible nylon/Lycra construction
- High-grip nitrile-coated palms
- Breathable design

- Washable construction

Select your preferred glove size when ordering, where available.
How to use your Banana Planting Combo Kit
Step 1 – Prepare your growing medium
Hydrate the POWER 50/50 coir block with clean water and allow it to expand.
For young banana suckers, mix some of the hydrated coir with a suitable quality potting mix to create a moisture-retentive but free-draining growing medium.
Avoid using a heavy, compacted mix that remains waterlogged.
Step 2 – Fill your planter bags
Open the 5 litre tall planter bags and fill them with your prepared growing medium.
Leave a little space at the top to make watering easier.
Make sure the drainage holes remain unobstructed.
Step 3 – Plant your banana suckers
Carefully place each healthy banana sucker into its planter bag, positioning it at an appropriate planting depth.
Firm the growing medium gently around the roots and water thoroughly.
Avoid burying the growing point or planting the sucker too deeply.
Step 4 – Label your plants
Use the white plastic labels to record each banana variety and planting date.
This is especially useful when growing several varieties or propagating multiple suckers.
Step 5 – Support root establishment
Once planted, your banana suckers may benefit from an appropriately diluted application of Seasol Trilogy 631.
Follow the manufacturer’s instructions and avoid overwatering while the root systems are still developing.
Step 6 – Feed as your bananas grow
As your banana plants establish and begin producing vigorous new growth, introduce a suitable fertilising program.
Neutrog Gyganic provides important nutrients for growing banana plants.
Apply according to the manufacturer’s directions, taking particular care with young plants and small containers.
Step 7 – Transplant when ready
Once your banana plants have developed healthy root systems and outgrown their starter bags, they can be transplanted into the garden or larger containers.
Our larger 75 Litre and bigger Woven Banana Growing Bags are great options for the next stage.
Ideal for backyard banana growers
This combo kit is particularly useful for:
- Gardeners propagating suckers from existing banana plants
