How to use your Banana Fruiting Combo Kit

Step 1 – Wait for the right stage

Allow the banana flower to develop and the hands of bananas to form.

A good time to apply the cover is once the developing fingers have begun curving upwards and the bunch is sufficiently formed.

Step 2 – Prepare your banana cover

Open the cover and check that it is free from damage.

If you’re using a blue and silver cover, position the reflective silver side towards the strongest sun exposure.

Step 3 – Slide the cover over the bunch

Carefully position the banana bunch cover over the developing fruit.

Avoid pulling or twisting the bananas as you fit the cover.

Step 4 – Secure the top

Use one of the included zip ties to fasten the upper part of the cover around the bunch stalk.

Secure it sufficiently to keep the cover in place without constricting the stalk.

Step 5 – Leave the bottom open

Do not seal the bottom of the cover.

Leaving the bottom open allows airflow, helps excess moisture escape and reduces the likelihood of excessive humidity building up inside.

Step 6 – Trim the zip tie

Use your Tullen Utility Snips to neatly trim the excess zip-tie tail.

Take care not to damage the banana stalk or surrounding fruit.

Step 7 – Monitor your bananas

Check the bunch periodically as the fruit develops.

Make sure the cover remains secure, isn’t rubbing excessively against the fruit and continues to allow adequate ventilation.

When your bananas are ready to harvest, remove the cover carefully.

Use an appropriate harvesting tool for cutting the bunch stalk.
